The Braddock Apartments are lovely, comfortable homes for people over 65. The apartments’ location – on the campus of Good Shepherd Nursing Home – make them perfect for people with a spouse or other close family member living at Good Shepherd.
Braddock Apartments include 15 one- and two-bedroom private units in a beautifully renovated wing of Good Shepherd that formerly housed the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity. The sisters, who moved to other quarters at Good Shepherd, kindly gifted their convent to Good Shepherd to enhance the quality of life of residents and their spouses or siblings.
Because Braddock Apartments are part of Good Shepherd’s main building, it’s possible to walk from the apartments to visit someone living at Good Shepherd without going outdoors. This makes it very easy to spend time with loved ones; many Braddock residents visit several times a day, sometimes taking their meals with their loved ones.
It’s also easy for Braddock residents to attend Mass in Good Shepherd’s beautiful chapel without leaving the building. Good Shepherd’s resident chaplain celebrates Mass there every day of the week.
The building includes a large, attractive lounge with a piano, gas fireplace, kitchen, and comfortable furnishings. Residents can come together in the lounge to socialize; they can also reserve it for private gatherings. Each apartment includes one or two bedrooms, a complete kitchen, living room, and a full bath that comprises a washer and dryer.
The Braddock Apartments renovation was funded by the Clara Welty Trust. Good Shepherd and the Braddock Apartments are located at 159 Edgington Lane, Wheeling, WV.
