Good Shepherd Nursing Home Appoints Director of Finance
A financial officer with more than 25 years of experience has joined the staff of Good Shepherd Nursing Home as its Director of Finance.
Jay Zimla of Glen Dale will be responsible for overseeing the fiscal operations of Good Shepherd, which serves 192 residents. Good Shepherd Administrator Don Kirsch explained that the Director of Finance position was created to meet the challenges of an expanding organization.
Mr. Kirsch called Mr. Zimla “a good and welcomed addition to our five-star staff,” adding “With Jay’s background and experience in finance and accounting, he will enable us to better concentrate on our mission of providing quality care and services to the aged of Ohio County.”
As Director of Finance, Mr. Zimla will provide business leadership to the organization through budgeting, strategic planning and forecasting. He will oversee the financial management of the organization, including management of finance personnel as well as the daily operations of the finance division.
Mr. Zimla is a graduate of Bishop Donahue High School and West Liberty University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in finance, and he earned an MBA from Wheeling Jesuit University. He previously served as corporate controller of Strauss Industries and as senior finance manager of North American operations for Teletech. He was also vice president and controller of One Valley Bank North, now BB&T.
A parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church, Mr. Zimla is a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1907. In 2016 he was elected to the Bishop Donahue Hall of Fame, which honors alumni who have achieved success in their chosen fields and have led an exemplary life, significantly witnessing the gospel values they learned at Bishop Donahue in their personal, professional and public lives.
He and his wife, Paula, have two daughters: Samantha, an incoming freshman at Wheeling Jesuit University, and Sydney, who will be a sophomore at Bishop Donahue this fall.
