New Visitation Policy

Our New Visitation Policy

We are excited to welcome visitors at Good Shepherd and Welty Home again! If you would like to visit with your loved one at Good Shepherd, please call the social worker for his or her respective floor to schedule an appointment. If you don’t know the social worker’s number, call our main switchboard at 304.242.1043. For Welty, please call the main line: 304.242.5233.

Visitation is dependent on several factors. If the facility should experience an active outbreak, which by definition is one resident or one staff member testing positive for COVID-19, we enter into “outbreak” status which means we have to limit visitation.

If we are can identify a specific area of the building that the “outbreak” is contained to, we are able to halt visitation in that area only and continue visitation throughout the rest of the facility. If the “outbreak” is “widespread,” we would then have to halt visitation facility-wide for a minimum of 14 days. We would be able to re-open once we have no new positives for 14 consecutive days.

Another factor is the rate of positivity in Ohio County. If Ohio County remains in “Red” or “Orange,” we cannot have visitation. Once the county moves to “Yellow,” we are able to begin scheduling visits.

We look forward to seeing you. Please call soon to make an appointment to visit your loved one.
